Chris Taylor and Andrew Hansen in One Man Show may be the best thing I have seen all year. They are hilarious and wonderful. I met them both afterwards and spoke to them both and got pictures with both and everything and they knew me form Twitter and yeah. I will doing a longer post with pictures in the morning but if YOU HAVEN’T BOOKED TO SEE ONE MAN SHOW AND ARE STILL ABLE TO YOU REALLY SHOULD AS IT IS AMAZING
Hello there - as promised this is my post about One Man Show with The Chaser’s Chris Taylor and Andrew Hansen last night!
We were siting in row HH, the eighth row in the theatre so really great seats. I was super excited so see them live as I love The Chaser and have previously heard they even better during their stage shows. After seeing One Man Show, I can definitely corroborate that - seeing them react to the crowd like that, improving through mistakes and crowd reactions/nearly choking on pink feathers from a feather boa or slower costume changes in Andrew’s case is a really great experience and something you don’t see that often in their TV shows.
One Man Show was hilarious. I won’t say much since I know lots of people still need to see it. My favourite sketches included the Brisbane song (“and next time you get flooded we hope it floods out Ipswich), the Department of Immigration sketch and the final song they perform (which I will post the video of after this).
During the final song Craig actually called Chris. Chris ignored the call and was saying how it was a “fucking stupid time to call. He’s just bored because he’s doing some boring shopping show at the moment” (all in good spirits of course!).
After the show was finished, my friend and I decided to stay back to meet them. Andrew had tweeted me earlier saying they weren’t sure if they would because they had to race off to Darwin. We waited around the stage for a bit, then outside near the entrance but they didn’t come.
CHRIS CAME OUT. He was talking to some people and then I actually began talking to him. Chris is so amazingly lovely and was really happy to have a conversation with me and take pictures. After I introduced myself and he shook my hand, he kind of paused and was like “Wait, are you the Isabella that tweeted the Clive Pugh account?” which made me freak out on the inside because hello, they knew who I am. I mentioned how I knew northerlydirection paulinehansonvevo and clivepughofficial and Chris actually went on about how amazing everyone like us is, and how dedicated and awesome we all are. I mentioned clivepughofficial and Chris called you dedicated and wonderful and then I mentioned how it was her birthday so he said “Tell her I said happy birthday!” (so lovely omfg. You can really tell how much they love their fans when you talk to them, especially lately with all the shit twats in the media give them and the ongoing defamation against them after The Hamster Decides. Chris had to run off then, but he said it was lovely to meet you and Andrew would probably come out. He was really funny and just engaging, talking about how people reacted to certain sketches, especially the Pink Floyd song.
Andrew never came out into the foyer so I was about ready to leave when we noticed them heading out the door. I quickly went after them and was like “Hey Andrew!” and Chris was like “Oh right” because I’d mentioned wanting to meet them both. I said if it was okay could I have a quick photo and Andrew was really sweet and was like yeah sure. THEN HE WAS LIKE “You must be Isabella!” so yeah I flipped out again on the inside. We were taking pictures and Andrew said “Do we look glamorous enough?” (do you ever not Andrew?!). We left after that because they were on their way to get a taxi.
So basically last night was the best night ever and I’m still kind of in shock that I could meet them. I was amazed by how nice they were too - I knew they would be but they were both rushing, especially when I was with Andrew, around and happily stopped to talk and get pictures. They honestly do love and appreciate their fans and are two of the nicest guys ever.
EVERYONE GO TO ONE MAN SHOW
You guys are great, thank-you for sticking with me and my major happy attack because of last night. I am still smiling since this was also the first time I have seen them outside of their television shows. Andrew was really sweet too, responding to my tweet this morning apologising for running!
This post was a lot longer than I thought it would be, wow. Hopefully it was worth reading. Hopefully your future One Man Show experiences are as amazing as mine were!
